Clinical and sociodemographic characteristics of patients hospitalized in a child and adolescent psychiatry inpatient unit

Objective: In this study, it was aimed to examine the clinical and sociodemographic characteristics of patients hospitalized in Ankara City Hospital Child Adolescent Psychiatry Inpatient Unit during pandemic period. Material Methods: Medical records children adolescents who were between March 2021 2022 retrospectively analyzed. Patients evaluated terms characteristics, diagnosis treatment, duration hospitalization, Clinical Global Impression Scale (CGI) scores at admission discharge. Results: our mean age 132 cases (86 girls, 46 boys) found 15.1±1.8 years. The main diagnoses subjects 30.3% (n=40) major depressive disorder, 25% (n=33) psychotic 14.4% (n=19) eating disorders, remaining other disorders. Comorbidity 63.6% (n=84) cases. presence comorbidity antidepressant use significantly higher females. There a significant differences disorder (MDD), bipolar (BD), conduct post-traumatic stress (PTSD) discharge CGI-Severity (CGI-S) scores. addition, there difference CGI side effects only for BD. Conclusion: most common inpatient unit. accompanying two out every three are few child adolescent psychiatry services country, studies on subject scarce. It is thought that study will contribute literature units.
